Using a simple laser pointer can convert the sound into light, and this journey to becoming a receiver back into sound and a very low quality loss.
- A cheap laser pointer.
- A battery that has the same voltage that the three batteries laser pointer.
- A transistor radio or a sound source. A headset jack

- Make sure the radio is off and the laser power. Plug headphones into the radio.
- Connect the solar cell to the amplifier or stereo, and turn the volume up to hear a little noise, then lower it a bit until you notice the noise. The volume may be a little high.
- Point the laser to the solar cell. You might hear 'clicks' in the amplifier or stereo, that means it works well.
- Now carefully turn on the radio and slowly adjust the volume until you hear music from the amp. The radio will be heard if the headset is connected. If you hear sound from the amplifier, make sure you're pointing it, and try to gain a little more volume.
