Detective Saga Pharaoh Love gay Dieux du stade

A couple of posts ago I talked about my discovery of the novel a sissy way to die (A queer kind of death, 1966) by George Baxt. Quite a find because they are now impossible to find around here for a short time after publishing in the late 60's the first three. As I noted in that entry , is a series of mysteries starring a gay black detective. It was quite risky gay because he still had not started the fight for gay rights very seriously soared after the Stonewall riots in 1969 and so far the only gays were viewed in a sympathetic manner if they were hairdressers, dressmakers or comedians. People did not imagine that a lawyer, journalist, economist and serious-looking detective might be gay. The top player in black is white when the author was also nothing unusual and remember that Martin Luther King was assassinated in 1968, bringing the struggle for black rights in the U.S. was now at a peak but still not complete or fully seated (as shown by the same murder commented Luther King). Aside and focus and boldness in the series, detective Pharaoh Love began his career with the annotated A queer kind of death (1966), continued Swing low, sweet Harriet (1967) and ended as a trilogy in Topsy & Evil (1968). After those three novels written in three consecutive years, the author turned to other tasks and therefore gave that series as completed when all seemed forgotten but surprisingly reappeared in 1994 with two other novels referenced to the first titled : A queer kind of love and A queer kind of umbrella . The series now I remain as is after the author's death in 2003. It would be nice that someone remembered to republish this interesting series.

Wedding Arch Home Depot

January 2011. Juan Manuel Leguizamon

A month ago I talked about this traditional calendar and and often by the gay community. Remember that it was an initiative of team Stade Français pink but is now open to other athletes. Published and most photos in previous posts: Dieux du stade 1 and Dieux du stade 2 (click on the numbers to see.) Some of you said to me that one of the players in January (I think there are two versions and two photos of different players for each month, perhaps to choose) I called attention and what better now that we're in your month to talk a little about him. This January, for the Argentine player Juan Manuel Leguizamon (not confindir with actor John Leguizamo) and currently plays in the French team just above. The photographer has gotten quite favored because the truth is that in the games goes a bit unnoticed by that hat you use. Seems to have gone through several stages and that some photos have a little look of "bear" and elsewhere, as in the photo shoots in black and white, looks more lean and muscular, but I say that maybe misses for that hat so unflattering. I leave you with pictures of their sets various sport and a photo shoot before, and also posed in years precedentes.

an effeminate manner of death (A poker kind of death, 1966) by George Baxt

Walking by the charms of Barcelona I found this old book that, like any good detective queer, I was struck by that title. Lo gay detective is an expression made popular long ago, I guess that's the 70 after Stonewall and the gay movement's beginnings, to refer to anyone who saw things everywhere gays or homosexuality sniffed a mile away and is not spent even a small signal. Come on, gay people, after years of prohibition and hidden signals for communication, radar was developed as a and a special antenna to detect anything that could be related to their "business". Obviously this was something strange word burlesque and was coined by the heterosexual but had some success and is still used without special pejorative meaning. Well, sometimes I carry the radar and sometimes actually detected distance gay material (ha ha).

totally unaware this author and I did not give more weight but I bought the book since it cost only one euro (the charms are as El Rastro in Madrid for those not familiar with Barcelona). Once home I read voraciously, I inquired about this author unknown to me and I was surprised that's all a celebrity in America and Hollywood screenwriter and as a writer was one of the first to create a series featuring a gay detective, and in this case is literal gay detective. This novel I found lying around and miraculously rescued the first of a series starring detective Pharaoh Love (Pharaoh Love here, although they could have put more English form). This character's name is so evocative black and gay, all a dare in 1966 and be reminded that the Stonewall riots occur in 1969 and the early gay liberation movements as a result of these and social awareness the issue of homosexuality is very slow and progressive in the early 70's. I guess for the great connoisseurs in detective literature series is one among many but this peculiarity and boldness makes it a bit special and deserves a place among the highlights of those years 60-70. The author ended the series after three novels followed but surprisingly enough took it up in the 90's with two new releases. I have not seen that are published here and I think that would be worth.

As has been a little surprise and it is so unknown in these parts I think that deserves some further input on the series, detective novels are interesting celebrities in his story about his film and about you.

Gay History Museum in San Francisco

San Francisco today became the second city to host a museum of history LGBT (lesbian, gay, transgender and bisexual) next to Berlin. The chosen site could not be other than the famous Castro district, historically the epicenter of many key events in the history of gay and popular claims to the public after the film My name is Harvey Milk. It is this pioneering activist is, despite being deceased, doubly responsible for the opening of the museum and its relationship to the neighborhood that has been crucial to the film location and above there was an exhibition for some time and, given the success of the public, was that it was feasible to make even a global museum on homosexuality. The initial intention will be to see all those initial struggles so hard that may seem simple now given the times (in a few countries, it must be said) but at that time were all a heroism, and the sample is sufficient own murder of Harvey Milk to illustrate. Over time they expanded the activities and exhibitions and will also serve as a documentation center for anyone who wants to do some work or research that today we call "queer." Good luck to the museum and above all an example for projects similar in other cities.

Lazarillo Z, Z Quixote, Pride and Prejudice and zombies; versions of classic scary

seems to be born a new subgenre "zombifica" classical life. I think the English opened fire Pride and Prejudice and zombies to "adapt" the Jane Austen novel in the key of the undead. Following the success of it is not surprising that already have Quixote and Lazarillo Z Z . I've read the latter out of curiosity and not bad if you take it for what it is: a divertimento. The author tells us that the Lazarillo de Tormes had other adventures that did not tell us that in the XXI century is still with us wandering. There is a sympathetic nod the emergence of Garcilaso and St. Teresa of Jesus and some surprise homosexual. Obviously it is preferable to read the original classic but this little book at least not rob you long time, reads a "plis plas" and is therefore suitable for dead or times when you go by public transport.
